Still a long way to go.

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 16, 2008, 10:58 AM
The pigs are walking in my town as well as the rest of the animals.

So I got a friend to give me a critique of my latest drawing of Lin today, a picture I really like and feel quite proud of, but man, she tore it apart! Pointed out so many flaws and mistakes it made my head spin.

It was a really good critique. Humbling. I manage to not get defensive and offended anymore when people criticize my work ("Where's his thumbs?") but now it's kind of hard not to get depressed and discouraged. To have so many glaring errors and mistakes pointed out to me in excruciating detail reinforces that deep seated fear that No I'm Not Talented and I'm just running on borrowed luck that's going to run out fucking quickly if I don't shape the hell up. That there are many, MANY people out there who are far more capable, hard-working, and deserving of success than I am and that I'm just a pretender cheapstaking his way to success like that fucker Rob Liefeld.

Jesus Christ I don't want to be another Liefeld.

I need to do more practice drawing in my spare time. My anatomy still needs a lot of work and it's getting harder and harder to justify the way I draw faces. I'd love to be able to draw like [link] one day. I should get on with that.

We gained a dog the other day but lost a hippo. It was not a fair trade.

I just found your comic on slipshine, and decided to follow the links to your dev. My boyfriend was ecstatic that I had found the loserz archive (etc.etc.etc). Anyway, your art is good enough for me to study it, and your style makes me smile. Keep up with what you're doing!

(damn, that was a lot more ramble-y than I intended...)

You know, it's odd...tonight, I just had it strike me that I wanted to read through the Loserz archives, but I remembered that the site had fallen into the clutches of squatters, so I Googled to see if I could find an alternate and, not only did I find the new archive site, but I found your DA account! Beyond that I'll keep it simple and say I've been a fan of your work for years now.

I don't know, I thought the artist got some sort of kickback for posting their comic on wowio . . . But then again, I don't know much about it

What would the difference be between putting up the comics on a free book site and just leaving them up on the free archive?
~MalkavianMarine:iconMalkavianMarine: Feb 13, 2008, 9:42:49 AM
Have you ever thought of putting loserz up on wowio ?

I first log in to DA and your fanart of Toki is the first thing I see, so I decide to go Gallery diving.

You're an excellent cartoonist, dude!

Hee, I've actually read some of that comic too.

My boyfriend showed me the slipshine website and I said "wow that looks a lot like loserz."

I haven't drawn any new Loserz comics in a long time now, but there is an archive of them up at: [link] We're working on sexing up that archive so that it at least looks nice even if there's nothing new to read.

For the past 7 months give or take I've been working on a series for Slipshine called Linburger: [link]
I'm really proud of how it's come along so far and having a lot of fun with it!

Eventually I'll get around to making new webcomics, though it'll probably be a new series apart from Loserz.

omg, I just realized. You're the artist of Lozers! I've been reading it for like over 4(?) years now.

I dunno, it's been a while, I was like in 9th grade when I started reading it and I'm in sophy in college now.

I miss it so much. I don't usually read webcomics- but yours was always my favorite and one of the only ones I've ever read. I didn't even know you had a devart.

It's been a while since I've read loserz, I have trouble keeping up with it cause it moves so often, so you still make strips? Have you been working on anything new?

*squeeee* so excited to randomly encounter you on devart, I hope I don't seem to creepy. :)

I stopped updating it. But there is an archive at [link] and in the next couple months it will probably be re-designed to look much nicer.

Yeah I've been busy too, but in a good way. Really been enjoying working on my new stuff. It's refreshing as hell to be doing new characters in a new setting. Kudos on the contract! That's essentially been your lifelong project, hasn't it?
